Room Eleven - The Crucifixion
Time: approximately 9 minutes
Estimated Cost: $74,49
Scripture: Matthew 27:1-56
Mark 15:1-41
Luke 23:1-49
John 19
There is total darkness as you enter except for an archway looks like city gates lined with lights. A blast of warm air hits you from above. Lights begin to rise to a dim light as you hear the sound of people screaming, taunting, and jeering. Shouts of "crucify him" mingle with shouts of "he’s innocent." Slowly the crowd comes into a unison chant of "crucify him."
Through the archway that you entered is a winding path on the side of a barren rock strewn hill. People line both sides in various stages of animation; such as raising fists, laughing, crying, etc. As you look down the path you see a bend that you cannot see past.
Walking down the path you hear sounds of a hammer as it drives a nail into the wood, then the sound of the anguished cry of a man in pain. The crowd cheers with every hammer stroke. These sounds grow in intensity as you near the front of the room.
As you round the corner you see and hear women wailing on their knees. You can see from this vantage point what is taking place on the hill. You can see three crosses lying on the ground with a man on each. You will witness the soldier’s hammer fall, a cry of agony, and the crowd cheering again. Suddenly the room is completely silent and dark.
Now all three crosses slowly come to an erect position. A sunbeam is focused on Jesus. Standing there at the foot of the crucified Jesus you will witness the scene at the cross when Jesus promises the believing thief that they will be in paradise together that day. The scene continues until Jesus’ final words on the cross "it is finished."
The room is dimmed and still. Softly the song “Here is your King” plays in the background.
The door opens for you to enter the next room - The resurrection.
