TOP 10 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
If you have a question that you don't see below, you can email your question to [email protected].
1. Why are you building the museum?
Jesus gave the great commission to "go into all the world and preach the gospel." The museum is a unique venue that can be used in reaching the unsaved. That is the primary reason we are going to build the museum. This vision was born in my father's heart and mind and after his passing God laid it on my heart to complete.
2. What is so different about this museum?
A Light In The World Museum is unique in 3 very specific ways. One, it is a biblical museum that concentrates on giving an experience as opposed to focusing on historical artifacts. Two, the primary focus of the museum is Jesus Christ, and to show who he was, why he came, and what he accomplished. Three, it will be a free admission museum because the emphasis is on the ministry of spreading the gospel and growing the Kingdom of God.
3. What kinds of exhibits will I find in the museum?
The exhibits in the museum will be all-encompassing scenes that you will walk through. The exhibits will use a combination of video, audio, set design, and animatronics to create spontaneous and interactive bible scenes. God's plan of salvation is told from the beginning of creation through Jesus' resurrection. After walking through 12 rooms chronicling Biblical history and Jesus' ministry you will enter a chapel where you are invited to pray, meditate, or receive spiritual counseling at your request. Click on each room for a description of what you will see.
4. Will the museum be family-friendly?
The museum is intended for the entire family. We recommend that parents go through the museum themselves before taking their younger children. The only room that parents may feel concerned about taking their children through would be the crucifixion room. A bypass around this room is included in our plans for those who feel it would be too disturbing for their children.
5. How much will the museum cost to build?
Our current conservative estimate of costs are around $800,000 for the exhibits alone. The land and the building could boost the cost upwards to around that of $5,000,000.
6. How can I donate to the museum?
You can donate through paypal by clicking donations at the right side of the home page.
7. When will the museum open?
We are standing in faith and in obedience to God and will follow Him as He leads and guides us through this process. Although, we'd love to have a specific date for the grand opening of the museum, at this point, we have to keep plunging ahead and let God work that out.
8. What have you accomplished so far? How far along in the project are you?
We have accomplished our incorporation and tax exempt status; have a board of directors established, a newsletter, mailing list, and a complete presentation. We have created a good foundation to grow from. We are concentrating on telling more individuals and churches about the museum and researching grant possibilities -- while gathering funds, supporters, and knowledge about the technical aspects of the exhibits we have planned. There are many steps ahead, but we have made great strides. I hope you will want to join us in faith as we go along this process.
9. Why will the museum be free admission?
My father always said that since salvation was a free gift from God, he felt that it wasn't right to charge the unsaved to hear the message of God's love and salvation. The museum is a ministry to the world, it wouldn't be right to charge them to receive that outreach.
10. How will the museum financially sustain itself after it is open, if it is going to be free admission?
Included in the plan for the museum is a multi-purpose banquet hall and classroom space, a Christian book store/gift shop, and an outdoor concert area.
The banquet hall will be rent-able space for banquets, seminars, and other meetings. It will be available for other Christian organizations to rent for their own meetings and seminars. Likewise, the museum will hold its own special ticketed events such as special speakers, concerts, and theatrical plays. The combination of revenue from the rental space, gift shop, the museum's own events, individual donations, and grants will offset the operational expenses. But, until we are built and operating the museum's primary resource for funds and gifts are generous churches and individuals that want to be a part of this mission.
